Hands Up! was established by 21-year old Jennifer Wood in 2010 as a result of Masters research on access to education in Kenya. Since then, the charity has flourished, and now has 5 staff working year-round in Kenya providing education to vulnerable children.
The goal of the charity is to support vulnerable children into formal education where possible, so Hands Up! provide a course including academic subjects, counselling, and life skills to children in juvenile remand homes, slum schools, and street child rehabilitation centres.
Hands Up! have now been running for over 8 years, and rely entirely on donations. We are so thankful to everyone who has supported us over the years to keep going, and are incredibly grateful to our long-term donors who particularly in the last 2 years, have ensured we can keep our doors open during difficult times. Because of you, we are able to continue providing education to the most vulnerable of children in Kenya.
We welcome sponsors to our sponsorship family, and are also grateful for one-off donations. 100% of donations go to where it is needed most, and no UK staff are paid for their work. Please visit our Kenya page to find out more about the costs, and the Support Us page to make a donation.
